DIY Butterfinger Candy

What’s not to love about a Butterfinger? Crispity, crunchity, sweet, and covered in chocolate…Mmmm…Well, did you know that you can make your own butterfingers at home? Really, you can, and they taste just like the real thing. Oh, and they’re easy to make too. I originally saw this recipe over at Gluesticks and absolutely had to try it. Thank goodness I gave most of these away for a bake sale or I’m sure I would’ve overindulged.

Here’s the ingredients you need to make your own Butterfinger Bars:

1 lb. candy corn

2 cups peanut butter

1 lb. milk chocolate

Yep, that’s it. 3 ingredients.

In a glass bowl, melt your candy corn in the microwave, heating up at @30 second intervals until completely melted.

Don’t adjust the color on your screen! They really do turn this psychedelic orange color. Hey, I didn’t advertise them as healthy now, did I?

Add in your peanut butter and mix by hand. Pour mixture into an 8″x8″ pan. Set in the refrigerator until solid. This may take a while, but when it’s nice and solid, go ahead and cut into squares.

Melt part of the chocolate in the microwave in short intervals,  just like you did with the candy corn. You don’t want it to get dried out and funky. When it’s a nice consistency, use a fork to dip each square in the melted chocolate, rolling it around until completely covered. Lay on a sheet of wax paper to cool.

Good stuff.

When they’re good and solid, dig in. So perfect with a cup of coffee. Not only was I surprised at how much like the real thing they tasted, but the texture of the filling was the same too. Enjoy!
